| Schools' Sports Partnership | |||
| The
Schools' Sports Partnership is an initiative from Sport England fostering
links between Primary Schools' and their Secondary School. We were fortunate
to be one of the five local primary schools to be chosen to take part in
this scheme. The real aim of the partnership is to ensure that children
receive two hours of quality PE a week using quality equipment. Kingdown
has a School Sports co-ordinator (SSCo) and each Primary School has a Primary
Link Teacher (PLT). The PLT has attended courses and practical training
sessions which are funded by the Sports Partnership. As part of the partnership,
equipment, coaching and competitions for the children are available. We
now take part in the PowergenTag Rugby, BBC Kwik Cricket, hockey, football,
and many inter-school competitions. Through working with the partnership
we were recently became an FA Charter School.
The five cluster primary schools meet independently three times a year to plan sporting events and coaching opportunities for the children and this year Wylye Valley are hosting the first Year 6 Multi Activity Day where the children will be able to try archery, Tri-golf, javelin, high jump, discus and orienteering.

| Little
Steeple People Pre-School
Established in 1983, this small, successful, caring pre-school is focused on encouraging the development of personal and social skills from 2½ years old up to school admission. Our day starts at 9.00am and ends at 12.45pm including a lunch session from 12.00am - 12.45pm. Children not wishing to stay for lunch may end their session at 11.30am. Each child is cared for in a safe, friendly environment with the emphasis on the individual. We aim to encourage freedom of _expression and confidence in preparation for the first school environment. Our toys, games and activities, including our new purpose built playground, are designed to stimulate development in the six areas of learning, as set out for the Foundation stage of the national curriculum: 1. Personal, social and emotional development 2. Language and literacy 3. Knowledge and understanding of the world 4. Mathematical development 5. Physical development 6. Creative development At Little Steeple People we observe and adhere to OFSTED requirements and have enjoyed very successful OFSTED inspections. We have clear policies on all aspects of the school's management including equal opportunities, safety and hygiene. Grants are available from the Local Education Authority towards fees for three and four year olds who attend. Parents are central to the management and decision process of Little Steeple People and we encourage parental involvement in all aspects of the pre-school, including the very active management committee.
